Letter:
Welcome...
As I was welcomed...
I was once in your shoes...tired, worn, scared...my soul battered and bruised.
A friend dropped my 3 children and I off at Adelaide House for our safety from a abusing husband. I had a husband who beat my son, mentally tortured us, and made life on this earth almost unbearable. When he could do no more to me, he abducted our small daughter and ran like the coward he really was.
It is here I found the first peace in a long time. I had to regain my sanity and found I was not stupid, useless, a bad mother, or any of those things constantly drilled into me. I had to heal my heart that was so badly broken.
Here, I had found...sanctuary! What a gift! And I was not alone! The healing began.
My life is good now. My daughter is back in our lives and we are closer than ever and I have many grandchildren. What a blessing!
I am strong in mind and will. Life is good. I had no idea how to repay my debt of gratitude to
Adelaide House, so when I saw they needed a desk or dresser, it was the very least I could do. And as you sit and read this note, I know the vanity, with it's own history is doing it's job.
So rest My Friend, rest your body, heal your heart, and mend your battered soul. You are a survivor! You have taken the first step!
